Carved Stones Display

Sunday 22nd August 2022 was a great day when the new exhibition space created to display the ancient carved stones was dedicated by Dom Richard Purcell, Abbot of Mt Melleray and the Dean, following morning service.

The Cathedral architect, Margaret Quinlan, remarked that all the work undertaken during the last eighteen years has, up till now, been for repairs—to the gates, the steeple, the roof, the windows, etc. This was the first new project and was designed to display the ancient carved stones as well as other ancient stones of significance. This was made possible with the help of a grant from the Heritage Council.

Be sure to visit the Cathedral to see these beautiful, ancient carved stones on full display.
